Coiled Tubing Unit (CTU) is known as “universal operating equipment”.
In the 1960s, coiled tubing technology began to be applied in the petroleum industry. In the 1990s, coiled tubing technology began developing rapidly, ranging from simple sand washing to all conventional workover operations as well as various down hole operations of various stages of drlling and has been widely used in various fields such as workover,drilling,completion,logging, and field stimulation operations in oil and gas fields.
Compared with conventional operation equipment, coiled tubing unit has prominent characteristics and advantages:
1. High working efficiency and low operating cost. Due to the less parts of CTU equipment, the relocation, installation, and operation preparation time are short, which can directly reduce costs. Coiled tubing without coupling can achieve rapid operation and reduce well shutdown time.
2. Improve drilling efficiency and increase oil well production. Achieving the goal of increasing production by quickly drilling new oil producing layers.
3. Protecting oil and gas reservoirs and improving operational safety.Continuous operation under pressure can be carried out to prevent formation pollution, protect fommation and increase production.
4. Wide application. According to the construction needs and the performance parameters of the equipment, the 270-750 type equipment can be selected, suitable for 1 inch to 3.5 inch diameter coiled tubing and different pressure levels of blowout prevention systems.
It is mainly used for sand washing, acidification and washing well, gas lift fluid drainage, paraffin removal, downhole fishing, sealing, and other operations and stimulation measures. After equipped with relevant tools, the construction of oill and gas wells, shale gas and other ultra deep wells can be carried out, such as perforation, fracturing, drilling and grinding bridge plug, drilling etc, coiled tubing composite with cables and optical fibers can do the downhole logging operation.
